Bringing people together through music.

The Icarus Chamber Project was founded in 2018 by Joshua Ning (oboe), Nicholas D’Silva (clarinet), and Nicholas Zengoski (bassoon) as a student chamber ensemble whilst they were studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Unlike most others, this ensemble was created with a flexible instrumentation to allow for the performances of a much wider range of chamber music repertoire. Now as recent graduates, the Icarus Chamber Project aims to grow and continue to bring people together through music.

Creating a culture.

The Icarus Chamber Project was created with the intention of developing a culture of appreciation for chamber music in Australia. This is achieved primarily through the frequent delivery of high-quality performances in an accessible setting. We aim to generate and develop interest through careful and considerate programming of appealing works, covering a diverse cross-section of the chamber music repertoire using an ensemble with a flexible instrumentation. Holding further performances of these programs in regional areas of New South Wales and giving presentations in schools to generate interest in music at the youth will expand our outreach, bringing together all members of the community by generating a common interest in music. Through growing this culture and appreciation of chamber music, we hope to cultivate audience interest, and thereby ongoing opportunities for artist collaboration in communities to invigorate the stagnating classical music scene throughout Australia.
